It’s getting close to the end of the regular season in the NFL, and now that Week #11 is behind us, it’s time for one more look at the past week’s daily fantasy busts and diamonds. These are the players that either really disappointed us (busts) or really impressed and surprised us (diamonds).

These Guys Didn’t Show Up

Philip Rivers, QB, San Diego Chargers
The Chargers have been one of those teams that have been playing well, but are not getting any attention. They are only 2-8, though, which doesn’t really reflect on the talent of some of the players. Rivers is perhaps one of the most underrated good QBs in the league, but this was an awful game. Rivers threw 178 yards, 0 touchdowns, and had 3 sacks and an interception. Rivers has always been a good QB, but as the Kansas City Chiefs shut down the Chargers, 3-33, this was one of his worst performances ever. Something this bad is unlikely to happen again this year, but don’t expect Rivers to suddenly have a winning team, either.

Pierre Garcon, WR, Washington Redskins
Garcon has had some big games this year, but this was not one of them. There were no touchdowns, and he had just 43 yards. The good news is that he was only targeted 4 times and had 3 receptions. This is actually a really good sign. Although this particular game was a disappointment, the fact that he had a 75 percent reception rate (his season average is 64.7) indicates that this was a good game given the opportunities that he was given. It will also bring down his price next week as the Redskins take on the New York Giants who have struggled defensively. This should give you a good opportunity if you wish to include him on your fantasy roster.

These Guys Got Some Sleep Before Game Time

Jameis Winston, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winston didn’t have the greatest start to his season this year, but there were a lot of people that had really high expectations for him. His rookie season was pretty highly hyped, but so far he’s been a disappointment. This weekend’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles was a pretty convincing argument that Winston is talented, though. He threw 5 touchdowns and a total of 246 yards. There were zero interceptions and just 1 sack against him. Do keep in mind that the Eagles have struggled defensively quite a bit this year. Still, as Winston develops in the NFL, situations like this may become more commonplace. For the rest of this season, though, don’t expect a huge performance like this again unless he goes up against a weak team. The Bucs just don’t have the manpower to replicate this consistently.

DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans
Hopkins is having a great season, and his good games are beginning to lose their diamond status as they just become expected. However, with 2 touchdowns and 118 yards receiving, Hopkins put up a lot of daily fantasy football points this weekend. This is especially true in a league like what DraftKings has where there is a premium paid on performances of over 100 yards. The Texans are not a superb team at just 5-5, but Hopkins keeps performing week after week regardless of whether the Texans win or lose. This is a good indication that you should keep starting him.

Spencer Ware, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Ware had an outstanding game. On just 11 attempts, he rushed for 96 yards and had 2 touchdowns. He even picked up 5 yards in passing on his one and only target. The Chiefs played the San Diego Chargers, who have had their share of struggles this year, but a game of this magnitude was still an unexpected surprise for Ware. In the future, the Chiefs will likely be playing against weak defenses again, so pinpoint your use of Ware to these teams. These include Oakland (who they play twice in the remainder of the season) and the Chargers one more time.
