As Sunday draws closer, it’s time to look at the games lined up for this weekend. The NFL season is already half over, and Week #9 is already underway with Thursday’s game behind us. By looking at the Vegas spread for some of the games, we can get a better idea of how the games will go, and from there, we can choose a few players that have a good chance of being standouts when it comes to daily fantasy football.
Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
The Dolphins had one of the best first halves in NFL two weeks ago, and then struggled to put a few points on the board last week against the New England Patriots. The Bills are certainly not as good as the Patriots, and that should make this game a lot closer. In fact, the Vegas bookmakers have put the spread at just 3 points in the Bills’ favor. The deciding factor for this game will be Buffalo quarterback, Tyrod Taylor. He’s missed the last few games with an injury, but is listed as probable for Sunday’s game. Taylor has been a pleasant surprise for those using him on their fantasy rosters this year, and with the Dolphins’ lack of a strong defense, there’s a good chance he could have a strong showing here.

Green Bay Packers at Carolina Panthers
The Packers had an unexpected loss against the Denver Broncos last weekend, and although the Carolina Panthers are still undefeated, The Packers are 3 point favorites. Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career last week in that loss to Denver, but the Panthers have had some struggles of their own. Usually, Carolina QB Cam Newton is good for a lot of rushing yards and perhaps a rushing touchdown, but that’s not something you should count on this week. Green Bay’s defense is just too good to allow Newton to run a lot. He’s also been having a lot of turnovers this season, and Green Bay’s defense will be all over this if this trend continues. Do look to Carolina’s kicker, Graham Gano, as he will likely have a chance at more kicking opportunities than normal, and he’s already shown that he’s capable of great performances under pressure. His field goal last week allowed the Panthers to win in overtime last week against the Colts. For the Packers, their performance hinges on Rodgers. He’s been one of the top QBs week after week this year, and if he jumps back on this, then look for his main passing target, wide receiver James Jones, to have a lot of yards. He’s been averaging a touch over 60 yards per game this season, but a lot of that is thanks to a poor showing last week.
Atlanta Falcons at San Francisco 49ers
Vegas has listed the Falcons as 7.5 point favorites for this one. With the 49ers weak defense, and the passing combo of the Falcons’ QB Matt Ryan and WR Julio Jones, the Falcons have a chance of winning this game by far more than 7.5 points. The Falcons are currently 6-2, compared to the 49ers’ record of 2-6. San Francisco has really struggled both offensively and defensively this season, leaving the door open for a larger number of points than usual. Also look to RB Devonta Freeman to put up some impressive fantasy numbers this weekend. He already leads the NFL in rushing yards and has 9 touchdowns, but this looks like a good opportunity for him to increase that lead. Atlanta tight end Jacob Tamme also has a good chance of improving his standing on the top receiving yards list for TEs.
