Week #2 saw its fair share of players that everyone had high hopes for, and then disappointed. Hopefully you didn’t use any of these people in your lineups this past weekend, but if you did, you can at least learn from it and use that information moving forward. There will also a few players that had been under the fantasy radar and then surprised everybody with a fantastic performance. These are people that might never have a great game again in their lives, or they might be the next superstar of the NFL. You will at least want to keep an eye on these athletes.

Let’s start by taking a look at the biggest daily fantasy busts of Week #2.

Week #2 Busts

One of the biggest busts in Week #2 was Alex Smith. He had such a great showing against the Houston Texans the previous week, and then was a mess against the Denver Broncos this past weekend. He only had 191 yards, 0 touchdowns, and was sacked four times with two interceptions. His QB Rating of 53.9 was the lowest of the weekend.

Another bust was the Buffalo Bills defense. Yes, the New England Patriots were expected to win this game, but the Bills typically perform much better defensively than they did on Sunday. In fact, last season they were one of the top performing defenses in the NFL, and they may have gotten even better this year. They certainly didn’t show this, though. They gave up 40 points against the Patriots, and only had 2 sacks. This is pretty bad for the team with the highest number of sacks in the league last year, even if it was against Tom Brady.

The Seattle Seahawks have also been a disappointment this year defensively. They gave up a lot of points (27) against Green Bay over the weekend, and Russell Wilson is struggling to perform well at QB. The 2 sacks they had on Aaron Rodgers and the sole fumble recovery were not enough to make up for all of the points they gave up.

Darren McFadden was another disappointment. The Dallas Cowboys won against Philadelphia, but McFadden played little role in that. He only had 16 yards against the Eagles with 0 touchdowns. And while McFadden is not a top rated running back in the NFL, he did have a few bursts of genius play last year. With DeMarco Murray leaving Dallas, he was expected to see a bit more action than he did this weekend. Fantasy managers that tried to rely on this fact have been sorely disappointed this year. Instead, it looks like Dallas will be relying more heavily upon Joseph Randle. Tony Romo being out for the foreseeable future may change this, though.

Week #2 Diamonds

Antonio Brown, the wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, had a great game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. He had 9 receptions for 195 yards, 1 touchdown, and a two point conversion. He racked up some very nice fantasy numbers, especially in leagues like at DraftKings where there are bonuses for 100+ yard games. Brown was a top choice going into the weekend, and he more than lived up to the hype. This is a promising outlook for the rest of the season, especially if Ben Roethlisberger stays hot at quarterback.

Quarterback Andy Dalton had a great game against the San Diego Chargers. Dalton turned in a win for the Cincinnati Bengals. His performance was good enough to have him ranked among the top 5 best QBs as far as QB Rating goes at 120.3, and given a weaker defense, he looks like a solid choice throughout the season.
