We recently started using a fantasy data mining software to find picks. This software is simple to use and it allows you to find the best players available for that day. We’ve only used for the NBA. Although you can set it up for the NFL, NBA, and NHL, we are strictly looking at this from an NBA perspective. I expect major league baseball to be ready when that season starts. The nice thing about this software is, that it’s very easy to use. We aren’t tweaking so many settings to determine a nice lineup. However, we did make a couple modifications to rule out some of the players that may not be the best picks. It’s almost like a filtering process.
Last night we ran our system through the mining software and picked three different teams. Our settings had a consistency range, a value range, a salary range, and a projected range. The most important feature here was the projected range. We increased the projections to at least 10 to 12 points per game, this would rule out any smaller type caliber players. The interesting thing was, we only had four games in the NBA last night. This meant that most of the people playing were going to use a lot of the same players. Only a couple of modifications were made per team. We did notice that some players had injury labels next to their name which made them questionable or out for the day. Sites like Draft Kings and Fan Duel can sometimes leave you hanging with this information. We decided to just rule out anyone that had the potential of missing the game.
We were playing on Draft Kings last night and we tried to get into 15 different 50-50 games. By the time everything started, we ended up having only 10 games in play. We had five of one lineup and 5 on another lineup. Although they were very similar, one end up being 100% winners and the other only had 2 winners. We still came out ahead which is the best part.
In the images below you can see our projections for last night. Although Derrick Rose had a medical symbol next to his name, we knew he was in for the game. On this particular day there are probably 90% of the people using Anthony Davis. The major differences between the teams were on the lower salary players. The scores below show you what happened in a couple of our fantasy games.
Below are the picks for tonight. Although there are several changes throughout each lineup, usually one or two players gets put into almost every lineup. In this case DeMarcus Cousins, who’s been playing the best of any fantasy player lately, is in all the lineups. If I wanted to remove him it’s very easy to do, which will allow me to find different players in different positions and increase the value of those positions. We’ll see how this works out and get back to you about this. If you have questions about this fantasy software, let me know. As soon as we feel totally comfortable with it, we’ll let you know.
