This weekend is The Masters, kicking off on Thursday, April 7th. It’s the first Major Championship of the PGA Tour this year, and it’s likely to be the first really exciting tournament of the season. With that in mind, drafting your daily fantasy golf roster is probably going to be a lot harder than it has been yet this year. Not only will the tournament be tougher with many unexpected twists and turns, but there are going to be more people playing in the fantasy tournaments than any other one so far this year. We’ll help you get a handle on who’s worth drafting, and who you should stay far away from.

Aussie: According to a lot of the sports books, he is the top choice to win the tournament. That works out well for us, because at DraftKings, Day is only the number four choice, according to his salary of $11,600. For the record, we don’t think Day is the top choice to win this, but he’s a definite top ten possibility, and his price is pretty low with this in consideration. He’s made 4 of 5 cuts, has 2 top ten finishes, and he won his last tournament. His strokes per round is a bit high for us at 70.0, but other than that, he’s a great choice.

Rors:He is DraftKings number one choice, with a salary of $12,500. We are not going to be drafting him, though. He’s expensive, and doesn’t have the track record yet to warrant it. Yes, he’s a great golfer, but with 5 of 6 cuts made, and an average fantasy point score of just 76.0 per tournament, he’s not showing us that he’s a threat to win this. He might be a surprise, as is sometimes the case when it comes to The Masters, but it’s not worth it for us to spend so much on an outside shot like this.

Scotty: He is finally getting the recognition from fantasy sites that he deserves. He has made 8 out of 8 cuts this season, has the highest average fantasy score per tournament of anyone entered this weekend with his 103.9, and his salary of $11,900 is probably a bit low based upon his recent outings. Even though he seems expensive, he should be one of your top choices. He has an average stroke count of 68.8 per round, which is great with so many tournaments under his belt. He also has 5 top ten finishes on the season. He’s our top choice to win this, but even if he doesn’t win, a top ten finish is more than likely with him. Pass on him and you are missing out on a huge amount of potential.

Golden Child: It would be amiss of us not to mention he in a top five golfer article. His salary of $12,300 is prohibitive to us, though. He’s probably a better draft than Rors, but not by much. He was the champion here last year, and he was a surprise then, but so far this season he hasn’t shown us that he’s capable of repeating. He had a win already this season, but if you look at his last four tourneys, he hasn’t finished in the top ten, and he missed a cut. We will be fading him, but if you must pick between him and Rors, He is the better choice, but only because he’s a bit cheaper.

Gerry: Watson is our sleeper choice here. His salary of $11,400 doesn’t exactly scream “sleeper,” but we think he’s the top value in the field. There are some questions because he’s missed time due to a back injury, but reports seem to indicate that this was more precautionary so he could be in top form for The Masters. He’s won here before, and he’s playing great golf right now. He’s made 7 of 7 cuts, and has 4 top tens. He’s also averaging 69.4 strokes per round and has a stellar fantasy score average of 98.6.
