There were some surprising games and a few upsets in week #6 of the NFL season. And now that we’re gearing up for week #7, it’s time to look back at the biggest daily fantasy football surprises and the biggest fantasy busts. Here is our latest edition of daily fantasy busts and diamonds.

Week 6 Busts

Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks
Wilson didn’t play poorly, but he wasn’t a huge fantasy point contributor this week. He only threw for 241 yards with 1 touchdown. He also only had 18 completions. His QB Rating was deceivingly high at 96.7, but he simply didn’t have good enough stats to give him many fantasy points. This was surprising after he had had a good performance last weekend, but Wilson didn’t put up the numbers that he needed to in order to give himself a good fantasy showing. This should be different next week against the San Francisco 49ers, but then again, the Seahawks have not been near the same team that they were last year. It’s probably a good idea to stay away from him for the time being.

A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Green had a pretty poor showing on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. He had just 4 receptions for 36 yards, with 0 touchdowns. He only had 7 targets this weekend, which means he didn’t play too poorly, just didn’t have enough chances to move the ball down the field effectively. The Bills do have a decent defense, but it wasn’t really apparent for this game. It’s hard to know why Green had so few targets, but it could have been because the Bills were paying close attention to him. The Bengals have a bye next week, so hopefully this will give the Bengals a break so Green can regroup and get to the next level when they play the Pittsburgh Steelers in two weeks.

The Guys Who Did Something

Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints
The biggest upset of the week was the Saints beating the Atlanta Falcons, and a large part of that was because of Drew Brees’ performance. He threw for 312 yards, had 1 touchdown, and a completion rate of 76.9 percent. The Saints won the game, 31-21, and it became pretty clear against the Atlanta defense that the Saints offensive line is once again able to protect Brees. It’s also pretty clear that Brees is once again healthy. If you are able to find Brees for a semi-decent price next week against the Colts, he could be a very good choice for your fantasy roster.

DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans
Hopkins had a great game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had 2 touchdowns, 148 yards, and 10 receptions. Hopkins has had a great season, and keeps churning out great fantasy numbers week after week. Next week, the Texans take on the Miami Dolphins who have had a pretty subpar defense so far this year. The downside is that now that Hopkins is leading the NFL in receiving yards, he’s beginning to stop being a surprise when he keeps performing so well. This means that his price will start to rise.

Miami Dolphins, Defense
The Miami Dolphins defense was a pleasant surprise this week. Not only did they only give up 10 points, they had a turnover for a touchdown, 6 sacks, and 2 interceptions. It was a great group effort by the team, but the standout was Reshad Jones. His interception returned for a touchdown helped turn the time of the game and led Miami to a 38-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Because the Dolphins play the Houston Texans next week, it is debatable whether or not they will have such a good outing, but there are probably other defenses that will have better showings.
